  1. John Bambeneck’s leadership on this issue has been extraordinary. Speaking in terms of raw political pragmatism, every republican should vote for the con-con. The future of the party is bleak in Illinois without a complete overhaul that removes all legislative power in the state from the hands of the Speaker and the Senate President.

While at first I thought Bamby’s motives were largely partisan, over the course of a dozen or so conversations about the con-con, I’ve become convinced that he’s also driven by good government reforms.

Springfield is a city of many politicians, and too few public servants. Pat Quinn is one of a select few true public servants, who is willing to speak the truth that the system in Springfield is rigged to favor corporate interests and institutional power at the expense of the people.

I hope you will vote Yes on the con con

  2. I have a question for Mr. Bambenek. I love me some guns. I’m afraid that if I vote for the con-con some liberal sissies are going to try to pass a constitution that restricts my rights as a gun owner. What are the odds on this?

  3. They may try, I’m not going to say they won’t. But with the recent Supreme Court ruling, their scope of action is small. You have a personal right to own guns for self protection. Even Mayor Daley has backed off a gun ban, as have many towns across the state.

They may try something else, but odds are it would be policy or statutory, not constitutional.

  4. Jim Edgar is on the TV infomercial stating that 1) the convention is unnecessary and 2) the scammers in Springfield will crash the party.

Bambenek is therefore wrong by definition of Jim Edgar.

I haven’t had this much fun with a formal proof in some time. =)
