McCain

I think this speech had the right goals in mind, but was crafted and executed rather poorly. No specific references to the occasion McCain broke with his party, just vague references to fighting corruption - because if at the end of his discussion of being tortured he had said, “And that’s why my administration will not torture,” or if he had brought up campaign finance reform, or immigration reform, he would have been greeted with silence. And he didn’t have the guts to do that - which is really a microcosm of his entire campaign. All in all, lifeless and dull. I nearly fell asleep.

But what did you guys think?

  1. Exactly how I felt BriGuy! I did like his speech and should enough electoral votes be cast that would make him President I don’t think I would cry as I did in 2000(and 2004) and I will not vow to move to Canada.

On the point you made about not being specific enough…

My cousins (very young voters who are trying to “look at everyone before making a decision”) were asking me for specifics on all the ways McCain is a “maverick” and I told them to watch the speech tonight because I was sure he’d bring them up. I think he missed the mark on reaching out to those “on the fence” voters.

BriGuy, now that I finally supported you in the comments can I just go back to observing and mocking (quitely) again?
