An glimpse of common cause for the abortion conflagration

Today the Southtown Star, a south Chicago and south ‘burbs newspaper, ran this column by Phil Kadner, considered one of Chicago’s premier news columnists.

I’ve been working on this event all semester, and don’t you worry, I’ve got a DI column about it coming out next week, which I’ll surely post as well. I just wanted to give you a preview.

Oh, and pertaining to an earlier thread — Billy Joe did in fact donate money to this cause, and I didn’t even have to ask.

  1. yay…congrats BrendaKay. I’m so glad that my future wife is semi-famous.

  2. Actually I rather like this. I always tell people who are against abortion that I probably would be too if we had some sort of societal mechanism whereby we took care of unwanted/unplanned children properly rather than punting them from foster home to foster home in a system that sees a child in an average of five homes in their first two years of life. Good work Brenda.

  3. Way to go Brenda! If it gives babies a chance to live and mothers a chance to get their lives in order, I’m all for it. That’s the bottom line.
I consider myself strongly pro-life and always have, but I also believe that many, probably most, people who call themselves pro-choice are more pro-life in spirit than we give them credit for, and we (active pro-lifers) can work with them to good effect. People who are truly “pro-abortion” in the sense that they think abortion is a great thing and want to encourage it at all costs are not all that common.
