Keeping Things In Perspective

I know it may seem like the Democratic primary race has taken a turn for the nasty, but check out the presidential campaign in Zimbabwe:

[Mugabe] calls his opponents witches and charlatans and tools of the West. He refers to Mr. Makoni as a prostitute without customers, and since the government controls most of Zimbabwe’s media, these remarks are repeated until they seem liturgical. [EA]

Now that’s going negative! And here we are in America, where advisers are resigning for calling their opponents “monsters.” What a bunch of sissies.

Another interesting tidbit about Zimbabwe: they have an inflation rate of 100,000 percent. No, that’s not a typo. One hundred thousand percent. The Zimbabwe reserve bank recently put a $10 million bill into circulation and it’s losing value at 70 Zimbabwean dollars a minute. As I have often pointed out, I’m no economist, but that seems awfully high.
