Recessions are like hangovers, they are what keeps everyone from getting totally sh*t faced on liquor (or on cheap money) every night and doing stupid things.

It seems like the more accurate quote in these times would be, “A bank is a place that will lend you money whether you can pay it back or not, because they can always find some sucker who will invest in bad mortgages out of a faulty trust in the value of homes, and it’s no skin off their nose if you get thrown out on the street.”

But admittedly that would have impaired the ease of comic delivery.
