Chanting Makes Me Nervous

Okay, so as I’ve said before, I liked this first song, but this one is both annoying and kind of creepy, isn’t it? The whole “Obama” repetition makes me feel like it’s more about worshiping this one human being rather than what I think is the more sensible position of being excited about an energized and mobilized electorate.

  1. Worship is what it has turned in to.

  2. Yes, I’m a huge Obama fan. He is a wonderful candidate. And I think he will have the ability to turn some things around in washington.

That said, change is not easy - anywhere - and that is especially so in DC.

If Obama is elected, his supporters (me included) are in for quite the hangover in 2009. Obama’s election would be a step in the right direction, but the change he talks about is not so easily achieved. It will take years and if we know anything, it’s that Americans are fickle.

  3. Reminds me a bit too much of Leni Riefenstahl’s early work for me to be completely comfortable with it. The black-and-white film with the chanting in the background is pretty distubing to most of us who grew up in the shadows of Nuremberg, I’d wager.

  4. Good call on Leni Riefenstahl, Tet. Scary.
